Agribex 2011
Agribex 2011
Agribex, the international trade show for agriculture, livestock breeding, landscaping and green zones, has grown over the years into a unique event at which farmers, contract employees, representatives from suppliers, government officials, researchers and the general public come together to meet one another.
Support for the core values of Agribex will continue in 2011. As a part of this continuing effort, the fair will feature a guest region this year: the German-speaking Community. Thus Agribex underscores its character as a national organisation in which each region or community has its own importance.
In addition, the German-speaking Community occupies a very important economic position in the area of agriculture. Dairy farming, forestry, and rural development and the promotion of local produce are some of the most important economic activities. In terms of renewable energy and forestry, the region is very much "up-to-date."
With an exciting themed information island, Agribex is placing considerable emphasis on renewable energy. Here, you can learn more about limiting energy consumption in your agricultural operations, and also how to recover energy yourself through wind power, biomass energy and the sun. You already know that heat lost when the milk is cooled can be recovered to in turn heat water used for cleaning, but at the information island, you can learn a lot more.
At the climate change conference in Cancun, Mexico last year, it was recognised that agriculture has the ability to make an enormous contribution towards reducing CO² emissions. This is why there will be a themed information island on renewable energy at Agribex.
At this educational platform, you can attend a number of interesting study sessions in which the current state of affairs regarding agriculture and renewable energy will be discussed. Among other topics, Agribex will ask the question whether such new forms of energy and new investments that farmers will have to implement in the future are economically viable. In any case, renewable energy does translate into energy savings for the farmer.
A Comprehensive, Professionally Oriented Trade Show
As a comprehensive, professionally oriented trade show, Agribex is mainly oriented towards professionals from the agriculture, livestock breeding, landscaping and green zone industries. However, other interested parties can also take advantage of this unique opportunity to become more familiar with contemporary agriculture.
Professionals' Day, also the first day of Agribex, takes place this year on 6 December. For admission, you pay €45 and in addition to a pleasant reception, you'll get free parking and will be provided with a free lunch. You'll also have the necessary time and space to mingle or do business with other contract employees, large buyers, et cetera.
Livestock Competition
During the week from 6 to 11 December, Agribex becomes the biggest farm in the country. The National Livestock Awards are intended for both the professional and the enthusiast. In conjunction with this event, Agribex began its structural cooperation earlier this year with vzw Algemene Veeprijskampen, the national organisation for livestock awards.
In this manner, Agribex ensures the continuation of livestock awards and a livestock exhibition at the show. In addition the Belgische Confederatie van het Paard (Belgian Horse Federation) has organised a show in which the different horse breeds with Belgian pedigrees will be presented.
Landscaping, Green Zones and Sports Fields
Also, the landscaping and green zones industry remains an integral part of Agribex. Since 2005, this segment has enjoyed a full presence with its own space in Hall 5. This year is also an opportunity to present its own theme, with the creation of sports fields as the central topic.
Breedex
Breedex, an initiative that was first organised in 2009, continues in 2011. Breedex is oriented toward the professional livestock breeding industry and provides answers to questions from the sector. It will do so with an easily accessible presentation, limited in duration but with an interactive character, including study sessions.
